a person applies some force on an almirah but does not move.why?

Answer:

Because the force applied by the person isn't greater than the inertia of that almirah. Means that the almirah is applying the sane force the person is applying and as we know only unbalanced force cause motion. When the person applies some force on the almirah, it regains its position.

the applied force is not exceeding the static friction acting between the almirah and the floor
