Hello friend,

◆ Answer-
vs = 1 km/hr

◆ Solution-
Let vm be velocity of person and vs be velocity of river stream.

Relative velocity of man with the stream-
v = vm + vs
8 = vm + vs ...(1)

Relative velocity of man against the stream-
v' = vm - vs
6 = vm - vs ...(2)

Subtracting (2) from (1),
8-6 = (vm+vs) - (vm-vs)
2 = 2vs
vs = 1 km/hr

Therefore, speed of the river current is 1 km/hr.

Hope this helps...

Answer:

Explanation:

Speed downstream=8km/h

Speed upstream=6km/h

Speed upstream=Speed of person-Speed of current

Speed downstream=Speed of person+Speed of current

Subtract 1st equation from second,

So,speed of current=1km/h

Hope you understood
