Given :


focal length = 50 cm

                    = 50/100 m

                    = 1/2 m

                    = 0.5 m


The power cannot see far distances.

Hence the lens will be concave .

We know that concave lens has negative power .


Power = 1 / focal length

           = 1 / ( 0.5 m )

           = 10 / 5

           = 2 D


The power will be - 2 D because it is concave lens .


ANSWER:

-2 D is the power.
