so x% interest will be charged on 6000 for 5 years .

and x% interest will be charged on 4000 for 2 years . (as it was withdrawn after 2 years)

6000x/100 + 4000x/100.............(1)

and the principal amount which the person will get back is 6000 ( as 4000 was already withdrawn)

therefore, adding equation....(1),

6000 + 6000x/100 + 4000x/100 = 7900

= 300x + 80x = 1900

= 380x = 1900

= x = 5 .

therefore, the interest (simple interest) is

= 5%
