Given :- A person is able to buy 2kg more for Rs. 198, due to a reduction of 8% in the price of rice. What is the

difference between the original and the reduced rate of rice per kg ?

Rs. 0.25

Rs. 1.00

Rs. 0.50

Rs. 0.75

Answer :-

Basic Method :-

Let us assume that, the original price of rice be Rs. x / kg.

so,

→ Reduced price = Rs.(92 * x /100) = Rs (23x/25) / kg.

A/q,

→ 198/(23x/25) - (198/x) = 2

→ (198*25/23x) - (198/x) = 2

→ (25/23x) - (1/x) = 1/99

→ (25 - 23)/23x = 1/99

→ 23x = 2 * 99

→ x = Rs.8.6

then,

→ Reduced price = (92 * 8.61)/100 = Rs.7.9

therefore,

→ Original price - reduced price = 8.6 - 7.9 = Rs.0.7 (Ans.)

Percentage Method :-

→ Reduced price = 8%

and,

→ Buy more rice = 2kg

so,

→ 8% -------- 2kg

→ 100% ------- 25 kg.

→ 92% -------- 23 kg.

then,

→ Original price per kg = 198/23 = Rs.8.61

→ After reduction price per kg = 198/25 = Rs.7.9

therefore,

→ The difference between the original and the reduced rate of rice per kg = 8.6 - 7.9 = Rs.0.7 (Ans.)

Answer:

0.75

Step-by-step explanation:

GIVEN- person is able to buy 2kg more for Rs. 198, due to a reduction of 8 =% in the price of rice.

TO FIND- difference between the original and the reduced rate of rice per kg

SOLUTION -

when rate is reduced by 8 1/3 %, either the price will reduce by the same percentage or the amount will increase by 9%

so if 9% = 2 kg then 100% = 22.22 kg

now , earlier rate is 198/22.22 = 8.91 rs/kg

new price is 198/24.22 (2 kg increase) = 8.17 rs/kg

difference = 8.91-8.17 = 0.74

FINAL ANSWER - 0.75
