With reference to the power of lens, a person might be suffering from myopia(near-sightedness) or hypermetropia/hyperopia (long-sightedness).
If a person has been given a lens of power +1.5 dioptres, it means that the person needs converging power to achieve the normal refraction of sight. If a person needs converging power, it means that he is suffering from hyperopia/ hypermetropia.
