Solution :

i ) Cost price of stationary

materials ( c .p ) = Rs250

Sales tax( t ) = 4%

Bill Amount ( A ) = c.p[(100+t)/100]

= 250[(100+4)/100]

= 250 × ( 104/100 )

= Rs 260

ii ) Cost price of the item (c.p)=Rs2580

Sales tax (t) = 10%

tax = 10% of 2580

= ( 10/100 ) × 2580

= Rs 268

Bill amount = c.p + sales tax

= Rs 2580 + Rs 268

= Rs 2848

iii ) Cost price of the item (c.p) = Rs 1200

sales tax ( t ) = 3%

t = 3% of 1200

= ( 3/100 ) × 1200

= Rs 36

Bill amount = c.p + t

= 1200 + 36

= Rs 1236

iv ) Cost price of the item (c.p)= Rs200

sales tax ( t ) = 6%

Bill amount = c.p[ (100+t)/100 ]

= 200[ (100 + 6 )/100 ]

= 200 × ( 106/100 )

= 2 × 106

= Rs 212
