let the amount at the beginning be 'x'
a person spent 1/4 of his money on clothing
= x - x*1/4
= (4x -x)/4
=3x/4
he spents 2/3 of this amount on food and saves 100
(3x)/4 -(3x)/4( 2/3) = 100
(3x)/4 -(3x)/2( 1/3) = 100
(3x)/4 -(3x)/6) = 100
(3x)/4 -(x)/2) = 100
lcm of 4,2 is 4
3x - 2x / 4 = 100
3x - 2x = 400
x = 400
so the amount at the beginning is 400
check- 400 - 100 = 300
= 300 - 200 = 100
