Answer:

after 4 years his salary is Rs 15000

after 10 years his salary is Rs 18000

so, increments in (10-4) years=6 years is

Rs (18000-15000)=Rs 3 000

increment in 6 years is Rs 3000

increments in 1 years is Rs 3000/6=Rs 500

increments in 4 years Rs 3000×4/6=Rs 2000

so his current salary is (15000-2000)Rs= Rs 13000

his increments is Rs 500

Answer:

Let the starting salary of the man be Rs. x and the fixed annual increment be Rs. y. Then,

Salary after 4 years of service =Rs. (x+4y)

Salary after 10 years of service =Rs. (x+10y)

∴x+4y=15000 (i)

x+10y=18000 (ii)

Substracting equation (i) from equation (ii), we get

6y=3000⇒y=500

Putting y=500 in equation (i), we get x=13000.

Hence the starting salary was Rs. 13000 and annual increment is Rs. 500.
