Answer:-

Explanation:

Known Term :-

m = Mass

u = Initial Speed

t =  Time taken

v = Final Speed

a = Acceleration

f = Force

Given :-

Mass of the hammer, m = 500 g = 500 × 10⁻3 = 0.5 kg.

Initial speed of hammer, u = 10 m/s

Time taken by hammer to come on rest, t = 0.01 sec

Final speed of hammer, v = 0 (because hammer comes on rest)

To Calculate :-

Force exerted by hammer on nail.

Formula to be used :-

v = u + at and F = ma

Solution :-

v = u + at

⇒ 0 = 10 + a (0.01)

⇒ a = -1000 m/s².

Now Putting all values

⇒ F = ma

⇒ F = 0.5 × 1000

⇒ F = 500 N.

Hence, Force exerted by hammer on nail is 500 N.
