Answer:75 km/hr.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the distance to travel be x km.

A.T.Q.

x/50-x/60=20/60

6x-5x/300=1/3

x=100 km.

Time taken at 50km/hr. As the Speed=100/50=2 hours

Distance=100 km.

Time=2:00-0:40=1:20 minutes

Speed=D/T

=100*3/4

=75 km/hr.

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

let the distance of the persons house and the bus stop  be :D km

given: person travelled at a speed of 50 kmph and missed the bus by 40 minutes.

WE KNOW THAT : Time =distance / speed

Time taken to reach bus stop with 50 kmph = D/50 hour

given :Person  travelled at a speed of 60 kmph he would have still missed the bus by 20 min.

⇒Time taken by person to reach Bus stop with speed 60kmph :D/60 hour

Therefore,

(D/50--D/60) hour = (40-20) minutes

(D/50-D/60)hour = (20) minutes

(D/50-D/60)hour = (1/3) hour

(60D-50D/3000) = (1/3)

(60D-50D/1000) = 1

60D-50D=1000

10D=1000

D= 100KM

Time taken to reach bus stop with 50 kmph = 100/50 hour

Time taken to reach bus stop with 50 kmph = 2hours

Time taken to reach bus stop with 50 kmph = 120minutes

Given: Person traveled at a speed of 50 kmph and missed the Bus by 40min

⇒It means   : If the person would have reached the Bus stop in (120-40) minutes , he would be at the Bus stop at right time to catch the bus.

⇒It means   : If the person would have reached the Bus stop in 80 minutes , he would be at the Bus stop at right time to catch the bus.

we know that, 80 minutes is  : (1+1/3) hour = 4/3hour

⇒minimum speed to catch the bus  = 100/(400/3) kmph

⇒minimum speed to catch the bus=(100×3/4) kmph

⇒minimum speed to catch the bus=(25×3)kmph

⇒minimum speed to catch the bus=75 kmph
