THE PERSON CLIMBS 5m AND SLIPS 1m
TO CLIMB Im HE TAKES 5 SECONDS
SO FOR 5m HE TAKES 5x5= 25 SECONDS
AS HE SLIPS 1m FOR EVERY 5m CLIMB
IN EACH ATTEMPT HE CLIMBS 5-1=4 m in 25 SECONDS
TOTAL HEIGHT OF THE BUILDING= 53m
SO HE WILL NEED 53/4= 13 (remainder 1 ignored as he will not slip after the last climb)
SO, TIME TAKEN TO CLIMB THE BUILDING = 25x13=325 SECONDS
ANS:: 325 SECONDS

sangeetaravisha: thank you
Akshaymas: wlcm
sangeetaravisha: bt y u r ignoring 1 as we can count 5sec of it also for climbing
Akshaymas: he wont slip after last climb so we are ignoring it
sangeetaravisha: so cant we add 5 sec of it as he is taking 5sec for 1m
Akshaymas: no
sangeetaravisha: y can u clr it... bcoz if we ll not add jt how he ll reach at d top
sangeetaravisha: ???

The time taken by the person to climb the building is 325 seconds.

Given,

Height of the building = 53 m

Time taken to climb every 1 meter = 5 sec

The person slips after every 5 m he climbs.

To Find,

The total time taken to reach the top of the building.

Solution,

Since it is given that

The person climbs 5 m and then slips 1 m

So,

To climb 1 m he took 5 sec

Time taken to climb 5 m = 5*5 = 25 sec

Now, he slips 1 m after climbing 5 m

In 25 seconds the person actually climbed 5-1 = 4m.

Total height of the building = 53m

So, 53/4= 13 (remainder 1 ignored as he will not slip after the last climb)

Time taken to climb the building = 25x13=325 sec

Hence, the time taken by the person to climb the building is 325 seconds.
