A person was climbing on a building. He slips 1 m
for every 5 metre he climbs up. If the building is
53 m high and he takes 5 seconds to climb 1 metre,
find the total time taken by him to get on the top of
the building

Answer:

Since you don't say that each 5m portion is a separate attempt (like walking up stairs), I'll assume that his slippage is continuous as he climbs.

That is, it takes him 5*5=25 seconds to climb 5-1=4 meters.

So, his rate of ascent is 4/25 m/s

It will take him 53/(4/25) = 1325/4 = 331.25 seconds to make the climb.

If the climb has to be broken into discrete chunks of 5m each, then things change some.
