In the above Question , the following information is given -

A person was climbing on a building .

He slips 1m for every 5m he climbs up .

The building is 53m high .

He takes 5 seconds to climb 1m .

Solution -

He takes 5 seconds to climb 1m .

So , to climb 5 m , he takes 25 seconds.

Now , he slips 1 m for every 5 m he climbs up .

So , this can be stated as -

He , can climb 4 m in 25 seconds.

The building is 53 m high.

Now ,

He , can climb 4 m in 25 seconds.

To climb 48 m , he will take 25 × 12 seconds = 300 seconds.

Now , 8m is left .

For the next 4 m ,

He will take 25 more seconds.

Total time taken till here - 325 seconds .

Now , he has to climb 3 m more and he won't slide back again as he has already reached the top .

He takes 5 seconds to climb 1m .

So , to climb 3 m , he takes 15 seconds.

Thus , total time taken by him to climb the building -

=> 325 seconds + 15 seconds

=> 340 seconds .

=> 5 minuites and 40 seconds.

This is the required answer.
