Answers
While there are multiple varieties of blood groups, A, B, AB and O type are considered more common and noteworthy to talk about.
The naming type lies in the components of blood, especially, the antigens.
O blood types are those that have no antigens. A blood types have an antigen that are unique to A blood. So is the case with B. The AB blood type, however, has the antigens that are present in both A and B type blood.
Since O blood has no antigen, that blood can be given to any person with any blood type as it wouldn’t cause any direct reaction and hence it is called “universal donor blood”.
And since, AB blood has antigens that are specific to both A and B, the recipient of the blood can accept any of the 4 blood groups, without any reaction. And that is why AB is considered “universal receiver blood”.

Yes it's true that Person with ‘AB’ group can accept blood from person with AB as well as other groups of blood. Therefore such persons are called ‘universal recipients’.
Reason: Since, blood group AB has the presence of both surface antigens, A and B, a person with this group has no circulating antibodies against these antigens.
Hence, a person with it can receive blood from any group without the immune system mounting an immunological response.
For this reason, AB blood type is called Universal Recipient.
