A person X raises a load of 100kg to a height of 12 m in 5 minutes. Another person Y raises a load of 50 kg to a height of 15 m in 1.25 minutes.By what factor does the power of Y exceed that of X?Take g=10 m/s⁻².

Power for X  ( P1 ) = work done / time  

                         =  mgh / t

                           = 100 * 10 * 12 / (5 * 60 )

             = 40 W

Power of Y ( P2 ) =   work done / time  

                         =  mgh / t

                        = 50 * 10 * 15 / ( 1.25 * 6 0)

                       = 100 W

Then. Power of Y exceeds X by = P 2 - P1  

                                            =  100 - 40

                                           = 60 W
