area of margin=area of larger rectangle - area of smaller rectangle.

larger rect= l = 8cm b = 5cm

smaller rect = l = length of larger rect-2×1.5

=8-3

=5cm

b = breadth of larger rect-2×1.5

=5-3

=2cm

Area of larger rect= l×b=8×5=40cm^2

Area of smaller rect = l×b=5×2=10cm^2

Area of margin=40 - 10

=30cm^2
