IT ACTUALLY DEPENDS ON THE BONDING OF THE MATERIAL. IF THE BOND IS STRONG IT WILL BE HARD TO BREAK THE MATERIAL UNLESS WE APPLY HUGE AMOUNT OF FORCE. IT'S JUST THE OPPOSITE IN THE CASE OF CHALK WHERE THE BOND STRENGTH IS LOW

because iron nail has heigh density and chalk has low density that's why chalk broke by hammering as compared to iron nail .
