A piece of ice is floating in a glass vessel filled with water. How will the level of water in the vessel change when the ice melts ?

Explanation:

The ice floating in the water has air spaces between it which increase the total volume of water in the ice. As soon as the ice melts, the air escpes decreasing its volume. Therefore when the ice melts the level of water will decrease.
