If we put kerosene in water it will not mixed in fact. You will get a layer of kerosene and a layer of denser water under it.
Kerosene float in water because Kerosine is insoluble and immersible in water it floats on its surface rather then get dissolved. It's weight is lighter than water and has buoyancy, If you take water and put some drops of water then the keroscene oil will be float.
