The apparent weight = 0.23 kgf

Explanation:

When a solid substance is placed in liquid , its weight decreases . By this phenomenon , the relative density of substance can be found by the relation

d = \frac{W_1}{W_1-W_2}

here W₁ = weight of wax in air

and W₂ = weight of wax in water

Therefore density d = 0.27/( 0.27 - 0.12) = 0.27/0.15 = 9/5 = 1.8

Now the density of liquid is 800 ( given )

The relative density = 800/1000 = 0.8

Therefore 0.8 = 0.27/( 0.27 - W₂)

0.27 - W₂ = 0.27/0.8 = 0.034

Thus W₂ = 0.27 - 0.034 = 0.23 kgf
