A piece of square shaped land has an area equal to 144 hectare. Find the cost of fencing it,if 1metre wire costs Rs3.50.

                  = 9*100*100 m2
 side of square field=3*100
                              =300m
length of fencing= perimeter of square field
                          =4*300m
                          = 1200m
cost of fencing=3.50*1200
                       =Rs.4200

Area of square = side x side

                 144 = side²

∴ Side = 12 cm.

Perimeter of square = 4 × side
                                 = 4 × 12
                                 = 48 cm

The cost of fencing 1 m = Rs 3.5 
 
So, the cost of fencing 48 m = Rs (3.5 × 48)
   
                                              = Rs168.
