let length of other piece=x

now x+1/4 =7/8m
x=7/8-1/4
after taking LCM we get:-
x=(7-2)/8
x=5/8 m

Solution:

Total length of wire =$\frac{7}{8} m$

Wire is divided into two pices

Length of one piece = $\frac{1}{4} m$

Length of other piece =$\frac{7}{8}-\frac{1}{4}=\frac{7-2}{8}=\frac{5}{8}$

Hence The length of other piece is 5/8 m
