The test for the presence of H2 gas released is known as splint test.

In this test we light up a splint and brought it near to the opened end of the tube and then it is removed from there!!
Now there will be 2 possibilities,
If gas is flammable then it will ignite otherwise not.
And when it is ignited it produces a POP sound.
