What happen is that..When you strike the lower coin in the pile with striker..the striker does some work in order to displace it with a force..and We also know W= F×S. So, The striker is doing work only on the lower coin. And the inertia of the coins remains at rest.
For this reason , It doesn't fall down.

When a pile of carrom coins hits with a fast sliding striker, the carrom coins at the bottom gets scattered and the rest of the coins remain intact. This is because when the striker hits the lowest coins, they move is. they change their state of rest. The remaining pile due to inertia remains where they are and takes the place of original pile due to force of gravity.
