If the earth taken out of the pit is 14m cube
so,
volume of the pit = volume of the cube so formed
l*b*h = l^3
5*3.5*h. = 14^3
17.5*h = 2744
h = 2744÷17.5
h = 156.8 m
so the depth of the pit is 156.8 m
