A plane needs to reach a velocity of 300 km/h relative to the air in order to take off. If there is a wind blowing at 80 km/h in the direction opposite to take off, what velocity must the plane reach relative to the ground in order to take off?

Answer:

by relative motion

vp,g = vp,w + vw,g

where vp,g = velocity of plane w r t ground = ?

vp,w = velocity of plane w r t wind = 300 Km.h

vw,g = velocity of wind w r t ground = 80 km/hr

vp,g = 300 + 80 = 380 Km/hr
