Given Info : A plane of coil of 10 turns is tightly wound around a solenoid of diameter 2 cm having 400 turns per centimeter. The relative permeability of the core is 800.

To find : The inductance of solenoid is..

solution : number of turns per cm = 400

so number of turns per m , n = 400 × 10² = 4 × 10⁴

number of turns of coil, N = 10

diameter, d = 2 cm = 2 × 10¯² m

relative permeability of the core, μ_r = 800

using formula,

inductance of solenoid, L = μ_rμ₀nN(πd²/4)

= 800 × 4π × 10^-7 × 4 × 10⁴ × 10 × (π × 4 × 10¯⁴/4)

= 800 × 4π² × 40 × 10^-7

= 1,262,028.8 × 10^-7

= 0.1262 H

Therefore the inductance of solenoid is 0.1262 H.
