A planet revolves around the sun in elliptical orbit as shown. It is known that product of mass of planet (m), its velocity (v) & distance from sun (r) is same for position A & B [i.e. mv1 r 1 = mv2 r 2 ]. A scientist decided to find the mass of planet and thus measures i.e. v1 , v2 , r1 & r2. What is the mass of planet ? (Given : r1 = 108 km, r2 = 1.5 × 108 km, v1 = 2.25 m/s & v2 = 1.5 m/s)

1mvr=2mvr

find the products of the velocity and.distances and equate them because the masses are same
