The pitcher plant, Venus fly trap, et cetera has both autotrophic mode of nutrition.

The autrophic mode of nutrition fulfills the carbon requirement of the the plant. The process of photosynthesis traps the carbon dioxide from the environment.

The heterotrophic mode of nutrition is partial in these plants because they cannot fulfill the requirement of nitrogen from photosynthesis.

So, they opt for trapping insects for completing the source of carbon and nitrogen.
