A plastic tub has a capacity of 13.5 quarts. It can hold 3 times as much as a pail. The pail can hold twice as much liquid as a can. Find the capacity of the pail and that of the can in quarts

Tub can hold three times as much as a pail.
capacity of pail =  \frac{13.5}{3}=4.5\ quarts

The pail can hold twice as much liquid as a can.
capacity of can =  \frac{4.5}{2}=2.25\ quarts

as tub can hold 3 times liquid as pail
capicity of pail = 13.5/3 = 4.5 quarts

as capicity of pail is 2 times of can

.'.capicity of con = 4.5/2 = 2.25 quarts
