A point (3x + 2, 3x + 4) lies in the first quadrant. The mirror image of this point with X-axis is (5, –7). What is the value of x?​

Answer:

point ( x+2,x+4) are in first quadrant

then mirror image about an axis is {x+2,-(x+4)} it is lies in fourth quadrant

but here given mirror image about an x-axis is (5,-7) and it is also lie in fourth quadrant

so by comparing both mirror image points

Then we get value of x

x+2=5,x+4=-7

x+2=5,x+4=7

x=5-2=3,x=7-4=3

:. points lies in first quadrants is 5,7
