A pole broken at apoint but did not separate. Its top touched the ground at the distance of 5 m from its base. If the point where it broke is at height of 12 m from the ground, what was the total height of the pole before it broke ?

The fallen top be A.
ABC form right triangle where angle c is 90°
AC is 5m.
BC is 12 m.
by pythagoras theorem,
AB² = BC² + AC²
AB² = (12)² + (5)²
AB² = 144 + 25
AB = √169
AB = 13
Total height of pole before breaking = 12m + 13m
=25m
