A pole casts a shadow of length 18 m , whereas building 50m high casts a shadow of 75 m . Find the height of the pole .​

Let the angle of elevation of the Sun be θ

also, let the height of the pole be 'h' m

Now,

Since both measurement are considered to be taken at the same time, angle of elevation will be the same for both the shadow of pole and shadow of the tower

(But remember for all the Questions you can't say if the angle of elevation is same, never assume unless given in the Question)

Now,

In the Tower,

Perpendicular Height = 50 m

Shadow = 75 m

Tan θ = 50/75 = 2/3 ----- 1

Then,

Tan θ = h/18

From eq.1 we get

2/3 = h/18

3h = 18 × 2

h = 36/3 = 12m

Thus, the height of the pole is 12 m.
