So as in the question it is given that 1 is the zero of p(x) therefore we will put the value of x in p(x) to calculate k we get-

(1)^5+k(1)^4+4(1)^3-(1)^2+5(1)-4=0

1+k+4+2+1=0

8+k=0

k=-8

Therefore the value of k is -8
