Given :-

Mass of the luggage = 15 kg

Height it's been raised to = 1.5 m

To Find :-

The work done by the porter on the luggage.

Analysis :-

Here we are given with the mass and the height of the luggage carried.

In order to find the work done substitute the given values from the questions accordingly such that work done is equal to mass into gravity into height of the luggage.

Solution :-

We know that,

  • m = Mass
  • w = Work done
  • g = Gravity
  • h = Height

Using the formula,

\underline{\boxed{\sf Work \ done=Mass \times Gravity \times Height}}

Given that,

Mass (m) = 15 kg

Gravity (g) = 9.8 m/s

Height (h) = 1.5 m

Substituting their values,

⇒ w = mgh

⇒ w = 15 × 9.8 × 1.5

⇒ w = 220.5 J

Therefore, the work done by the porter on the luggage is 220.5 J.
