A positively charged particle is moving along the
positive x-axis in a uniform electric field E = Ej and magnetic field B = Bk (where E and B. are
positive constants), then
(1) Particle must deflect towards positive y-axis
(2) Particle may deflect towards positive z-axis
(3) Kinetic energy of the particle must remain same
(4) Particle may pass undeflected

Answer:

F

m

=q(

v

×

B

)

Depending on sign of q,

F

m

,may be along positive z-axis or along negative z-axis.

F

e

=q

E

Again, depending on the value of q it may be along positive z-axis or along negative z-axis.

If q is positive,

v

×

B

and

F

m

comes along negative z-axis also.But

F

e

comes along posiive z-axis.So it may also pass undeflected.
