The portion of conducting sphere near the positively charged rod will be in excess of electrons. The electron will move from away sides to near side of a rod in the conductor. The other side will lack electrons. Therefore, there will be positively charged on that surface( can be said protons but not exactly).
Therefore, the portion near to rod is rich in electron and portion away from the rod is rich in protons.
