Answer:

a post 5m high cast a shadow of 6m

if the shadow nearby tree is measured to be 24 m

the height of tree =

let the height of tree- x

=5:6::x:24

=5/6×x/24

x=24×5/6=120 ÷ 6=20 m

the tree is 20 m high

Given

A post of height 5m which has a shadow of 6m

Height of the tree = 24m

To find

Height of the tree?

Solution

So the solution to this problem can be easily obtained by using formulas we have learned in physics

The solution to the problem is as follows

Let the height of the tree = 'x'

so we have to just multiply the height of the post with its shadow

That will be \frac{5}{6}*\frac{x}{24} ------ equation no 1

Now we take x to the left side = 24×5/6=120meters

Now divide this with the height of the shadow= \frac{120}{6} = 20meters

So the height of the tree is 20 meters
