Given:

The Ratio of X's share to Y's  share is 3:1 and Y's share to Z's share  is 2:5

To find:

The ratio of X's share  to Z's share.

Solution:

As per the data given in the question:

  • X:Y = 3:1
  • Y:Z = 2:5

as we have the ratio of y with x and z separately, so must have an equal ratio for Y in both the cases that should be 2.

  • X:Y = (3:1)2
  • Y:Z = (2:5)1
  • X:Y = 6:2
  • Y:Z = 2:5
  • X:Y:Z = 6:2:5

so the required ratio is X:Z = 6:5

The ratio of X's share  to Z's share is 6:5
