A product is on 50% + 50% discount, what is the actual discount on MRP?
Answers
Concept:
Discount is the amount that is reduced on the marked price of any item when it is sold.
Given:
Two successive discounts of 50%, and 50%.
Find:
We are asked to find the actual discount on the MRP.
Solution:
We have,
Two successive discounts of 50%, 50%
So,
Let,
MRP of product = 100
Then,
First, find the 50% discount on the MRP of the product,
i.e.
= 50% of 100
= (50 / 100) × 100
= 50
So,
The first discount is 50,
i.e.
The Product will be of 50 now,
i.e. Price of product = 100 - 50 = 50
So,
Now find the discount of 50% on 50,
i.e.
= 50% of 50
= (50 / 100) × 50
= 25
So,
Now discount is 25,
i.e. Price of product = 50 - 25 = 25
So,
The final price of the product is 25,
Now,
Actual discount on MRP = [(100 - 25 ) / 100] × 100 = 75%
i.e.
Actual discount on MRP = 75%
Hence, the Actual discount on MRP is 75%.
