A projectile will cover the same horizontal distance as the initial angles of projection ∅ and (90-∅).

Given:

A projectile will cover the same horizontal distance.

To Find:

The initial angles of projection.

Solution:

When an object is projected with initial velocity u making an angle ∅ with the horizontal direction then the horizontal range will be

R_1= \frac{u^2 sin2\theta}{g}

When an object is projected with velocity u making an angle (90−∅) with the horizontal direction, then the horizontal range will be

R_2= \frac{u^2sin2(90-\theta)}{g}= \frac{u^2sin (180-2\theta)}{g} = \frac{u^2sin2\theta}{g}

So, R_1=R_2

Hence, a projectile will cover the same horizontal distance as the initial angles of projection ∅ and (90-∅).
