in 2006 it is 100% and in 2007 it is 120%. therefore

120%= 426

1%=426÷120

100%=426÷120×100=355

Let no. of houses sold in 2006 = x

So, no. Of houses sold in 2007 =

X*(100+20)/100

= 120x/100

According to the question no. Of houses sold in 2007 is 426

So , 120x/100=426

X=42600/120

X=355

So, no. Of houses sold in 2006 is 355
