Given :  A publisher gave 20% as a discount and he gets 25% income.  he decreases the discount as 15%

To find : income of the the publisher

Solution:

Let say Cost Price = C

& Marked Price  =  M

20% Discount = (20/100)M = 0.2M

SP = MP - Discount = M - 0.2M = 0.8M

25 % income (Profit) = (25/100)C = 0.25C

SP = CP + Profit = C + 0.25C  = 1.25C

1.25C = 0.8M

=> C  =  0.64M

Discount 15 %  = (15/100)M = 0.15M

SP = M - 0.15M = 0.85M

Profit / income =  0.85M - C

= 0.85M  - 0.64M

= 0.21M

Income % =  (0.21M/0.64M) * 100  = 32.81  %

income of the the publisher  = 32.81  %
