a pulse was created in a slinky of length 5 m by group of students .they observed that it returned,after ,reflection, at the point of creation 5 times in 10 seconds and calculated the speed as ?

Given ;

length of the slinky = Wavelength = 5 m

Frequency = no. of oscillations/Time
= 5/10
= 0.5 Hz

Speed = f × ʎ

= 0.5 × 5
= 2.5 m/s

Given,

Distance = 5 m

Time = 10 / 5 sec
= 2 sec

&

We know that,

Speed = Distance / Time

= 5 / 2 m/s

= 2.5 m/s Ans.
