A puppy and a kitten are 180 meters apart when they see each other. The puppy can run at a speed of 25 m/sec, while the kitten can run at a speed of 20 m/sec.

How soon will the **kitten** catch the puppy if the kitten starts running after the puppy?

Let the our observer be at puppy

let the point they meet=m

for puppy

s2-s1=ut+(at^2/2)

m=25t+(at^2/2)------------ i

for kitten

s2-s1=ut+(at^2/2)

m-180=20t+(at^2/2)

m=180+20t+(at^2/2) ------------ ii

By equation i and ii we get

25t+(at^2/2)=180+20t+(at^2/2)

25t=180+20t

25t-20t=180

5t=180

t=36 sec

The kitten catches the puppy after 36 seconds.
