A purse has only two rupee and five rupee coins. The sum of the coins is 36 and the total value of the coins are is rupee 84 find the number of five rupee coins.

let the no of Rs 2 coin be x

and Rs 5 coin be y

ATQ

X + y = 36
x = 36-y

ATQ

2x + 5y = 84
2(36 - y ) + 5y = 84
72 - 2y + 5y = 84
3y = 12
y = 4

there are 4 Rs 5 coins
