What is the best approximation for the area of this figure?

Use 3.14 to approximate pi.

area \: of \: figure = area \: of \: square + area \: of \: quarter \: circle \\  = 8 \times 8 + \frac{1}{4}  \times 3.14  \times 8 \times 8 \\  = 64(1 +  \frac{3.14}{4} ) \\  = 64 \times (1 + 0.785) \\ 64 \times 1.785 \\  = 114.24 {cm}^{2}
