A racing car, initially at rest, picks up a velocity of 180 km/h in 4.5 s. Calculate (i) acceleration an
(ii) distance covered by the car.

We know a = (v –u)/t, where a = acceleration, v = final velocity, u = initial velocity and t = time.

Therefore the acceleration of the racing car = (30-0)/4.5 {after converting the speed into m/sec} = 6.66 m/s2

Again s = vt + (at2)/2 where s = distance. So the distance covered is (30 X 4.5) +(6.6 x 4.5 x 4.5)/2 = 74.09 meters.
