Its half life period is 208 minutes and 48 second.

Let us consider the half life period of the radioactive element to be t minutes.

It is given that the element decays 30% in 2 hours (120 minutes).

We know that.

N/No = (1/2)^(t/T)

where T = 120 minutes

N/No = 30% = 30/100 = 3/10

Replacing these values, we get:

3/10 = (1/2)^(t/120)

Taking log on both sides, we get

log (0.3) = (t/120) log(0.5)

⇒ -0.522 = (t/120) * (-0.3)

⇒ t = 208.8 minutes = 208 minutes and 48 seconds   [1 min = 60s]
